Sculpture

After graduating with a BA Hons in Crafts from the University of Derby, I have been fortunate enough to set up my own business combining my need for creativity with my love of Nature.

My work is a series of sculptural pieces based on British wildlife, a passion of mine conceived during my childhood, whereby I spent many hours rambling through the Derbyshire countryside with my dad and my faithful collie.
I loved watching the little birds flitting in the trees, and the hares darting across the fields.
It is the movement of a creature that to me informs its character, and this is what I try to capture in my quirky creations.

I use recycled tin and pieces of driftwood for my work as I feel sustainability is important.
Also, there is something rather special about making plain and tired materials into prized and loved objects.

My work includes small brooches and earrings, wall mounted rustic plaques, boxed individual and triptych works, freestanding pieces and larger pieces some of which involve audience interaction.

An important concept behind my work is that it offers the viewer a momentary escape from the stresses of everyday life.
