The group meets regularly on Wednesdays at Dubrek Studios in Derby from 7pm until 9pm each week in their licensed cafe area.
Set up and run by Richard McKerron, the key ethos behind the group is to have fun whilst learning something new, and as such complete beginners are more than welcome.
The content of the sessions is tailored each week to the people attending so there is always a challenge and no one is left behind.
The current membership includes beginners through to experienced percussion teachers with a wide age range from 6th Formers to Pensioners, bringing together people who may otherwise have never met.
The sessions are informal and are a great excuse to get out and have a chat at the same time.
Traditionally, the djembe patterns are played in a loop and layered upon each other with the master drummer leading the sessions and solo sections, but we take our own approach to performance and share out the solo work as each member’s confidence grows over the weeks.
Members of 3D are eagerly looking forward to busking around the Belper Arts Trail this year and will be more than willing to train you up on the day if you wish to join us in exchange for a donation to our tea and coffee collection hat!
And if you are reading this ahead of the Belper Arts Trail and would like to give it a go, then get in touch and come and join us! We’d love to meet you and show you the ropes!
Richard can be contacted on 07482 453 459 or firstname.lastname@example.org and is also available for booking djembe workshops/teambuilding for your organisation.
